Now that I think about it, there are simply some hockey logos that stick with people. It doesn't matter if they made their debuts this season or are from a defunct team.

Last week's logo, correctly identified by Brett as the Ottawa Nationals of the World Hockey Association, fits that description.

Ah, it appears that Hound Central 3.0 just might be on to something here. After week after week of affording readers easy guesses in this contest, adding international logos might have thrown a curve to some of the veteran winners.

Hat's off to Justin for knowing that last week's logo belonged to Brynas IF of the Elitserien, or Swedish Elite League.

Gary the Swedish Big Dog, a hounding buddy from Sarasota, sent me an e-mail with the correct answer, too. Maybe next time, he'll follow the rules.

Aside from old-school and minor league logos, you can look forward to finding a few logos, such as this one, from other professional hockey leagues.

Think of it as expanding your horizons.

Though Christmas has passed, a still-wrapped candy cane goes out to Drew, for knowing that the previous installment was not a logo, but a caricature of the jolly old elf, St. Nicholas.

To be honest, it comes as no surprise that Brett continued his string of knowing last week's logo. It was a pleasant surprise, however, that old friend Tracy stopped by, too, with the correct answer and Thanksgiving wishes.

Fans of New England-based teams should have known that the logo belonged to the defunct Maine Mariners of the American Hockey League. The Mariners, who won the AHL's Calder Cup in 1978, 1979 and 1984, now play as the Providence Bruins.

This week's logo might be a little more difficult. Then again, it might not be all that hard.

In further cementing his elite status within hockey logo knowledge, Brett extended his winning streak to four straight weeks by correctly identifying last week's logo.

It's easy to appreciate people who do their homework and make an effort. In this case, it was a documentary on the early days of the NHL that provided the knowledge.

For the record, it belonged to the Montreal Wanderers of the National Hockey Association, a precursor of today's NHL.

Please excuse my abrupt honesty, but I'm a little disappointed that no one knew that last week's logo belonged to the Mobile (Ala.) Mysticks, a member of the East Coast Hockey League from 1995-06 through 2002-02. The franchise is now known as the Gwinnett (Ga.) Gladiators.

Given that last week's logo was a giant white "T" on a shield of blue, I figured quite a few people would know it had something to do with Toronto. One person, an old high school buddy, got that part right.

The complete identity? The Toronto Blue Shirts of the National Hockey Association, a precursor to the NHL.
