What's This? 2.8

Sorry for such a small image here, but don't let that stop you. But, when it comes right down to it, this moment is part of hockey history.

Congratulations to Drew and Kenjidm to knowing that last week's item was the Honda Center, home of the Anaheim Ducks. I'll be a little more obscure next time.

As always, thanks for stopping by.

What's This? 2.7

See? I told you last week's item would be easy. This week's entry, however, may require a little more effort. What I'm looking for this week is the name of facility and the team that calls it home.

Simply submitting "arena" or "rink" will get you a two-minute penalty for delay of the game. As always, specificity rules the day here.

Hat's off, too, to Brett and Moody for knowing that the image was, indeed, the bottom of an ice hockey skate.

If you're going to play this week, leave your answer in a comment. Thanks.

What's This? 2.6

I'm really trying to be humble here, but it seems that Hound Central 3.0 is on a bit of a winning streak with its interactivities.

Case in point? Last week's installment featured a Slovakian hockey fan, not a Czech.

Maybe this week's contest will prove to be easier. If it isn't, I'm getting a little worried.

As always, answers should be left in a comment.

What's This? 2.5

Don't mean to scare you at all, but this image shows the extremes that some fans will go to support their favorite teams.

This installment, like last week's, features a bit of a twist: Can you tell what team this fan is rooting for?

It seems that last week's item was a tad difficult. The hockey scene, which did not depict my short-lived stint as a goalie during street hockey games on the tennis courts at Broadbay Circle in Lime Lake, was on an antique pitcher, not an ornament.

Sorry, but there will be no awarding of eagle-eye wahoos this week.

As always, answers -- right or wrong -- can be left in a comment.

What's This? 2.4

Beyond the obvious -- a hand-painted hockey scene -- there's something pretty cool about this image. It's not so much what it is, but exactly what was it on.

An eagle-eye wahoo! are due Drew and Tracy for knowing that last week's image was a faceoff. I appreciate the attempts at specificity, but the easy answer sufficed.

Wanna play? Leave a comment. Thanks.

What's This? 2.3

Because it's the holiday season, and I've spent about two hours wrapping Christmas presents for you-know-who, this installment, and especially the ease that's represented, is my gift to you.

Congratulations are in order for Jaci and Tracy for knowing that What's This? 2.2 was a player from a table-top hockey game.

As always, answers should be submitted within a comment.

What's This? 2.2

I knew I made last Friday's What's This? too easy when Colin, my 6-year-old son, walked past the computer and asked whether the photo was a Detroit Red Wings logo.

Smart kid or not (and I like to think he is smart -- wicked smart), I figure that if a first-grader can figure it out, so should most everyone else.

This installment, though not a major head-scratcher, might take a few moments to recognize. It's not about stumping visitors, it's about seeing the detail within hockey.

What's This? 2.1

By far, this is the easiest contest in Hound Central history.

If you don't recognize this, there's little reason for you to be here.

It's that simple.

What's This? 2.0

Life, I believe, is all about the details. Sometimes you sweat them, other times, though, you ignore them. Either way, details provide the texture to life.

In this season's installments of What's This?, you'll find that no details will be overlooked. And though I'll provide one major hint -- everything will be related to hockey -- it'll be up to you to decide what's being shown.

With that in mind, this week's item really ought to be easy.
