No matter what they do, though, the new jerseys aren't worth the prices.

Long time baseball hound/Rangers fan who stumbled upon your blog. I'm going to try my hand at hockey hounding this winter, and have heard good things from the veterans in NY. I'm mostly a card person, so I've bought complete sets (no SPs) of 05-06 UD, 06-07 UD, 05-06 Parkhurt, 05-06 ITG Heroes and prospects update, and a lot of about 3/4 of the 05-06 ITG Heroes and prospects set. My questions are which of these sets need to be rubbed down, and do you have any other recommendations on sets to buy? Thanks a lot.
Chuck V:
Welcome to the club. Thanks for taking the time to ask a question. Hopefully, I'll have some answers for you.
~ You'll have to rub down the 05-06 and 06-07 Upper Deck cards and 05-06 ITG Heroes and Prospects.
~ The 05-06 Parkhurst is one of my favorites. Between the lack of prep work and its sheer size (700-card base set) makes this a staple of any hound worth his or her salt.
~ About the only other set I'd suggest would be the 06-07 O-Pee-Chee. Sure, the cards need to be rubbed down, but it's pretty deep.
Have fun and good luck this season. I'd like to hear how you do in the Big Apple.
